WonderCon: FutureTech Is Revolutionary in ‘Neon Future’

This past September 2018, I stumbled across a video teasing a new project from internationally renowned DJ Steve Aoki (I neither confirm nor deny that I have a deep love of EDM and Drum and Bass) about a comic named Neon Future that had me ready to add a title to my pull list. I love indie comics. I love music. So I'm rarely disappointed when the two intersect.
The comic debuted at New York Comic Con. Unfortunately, I was on the wrong coast to check it out. Despite that, the comic series stayed on my radar.
I mean, just look at this some of the cover art for issue one:
Neon Future may even sound familiar to some folks. It's the root title of a few studio albums from Steve Aoki's starting with is second in 2014. But on March 27th, 2019 when Neon Future hits ComiXology and shelves in retail stores, it'll soon come to mean be something all-together different.
The World of Neon Future:
Neon Future is set roughly 30 years in the future in an America that has outlawed advanced technology. A civil war is brewing between the Augmented, an oppressed class of people who have chosen to integrate technology into their bodies, and the Authentic, who have not. The resistance movement “Neon Future” is led by the mysterious Kita Sovee (a character modeled after Steve Aoki), who strives to bring peace, by showing the world a brighter future in harmony with technology.
Neon Future moves beyond the music and into comic form in hands of a uber talented the creative team including Tom Bilyeu founder Impact Theory and Eisner Award winner, and comic writing powerhouse, Jim Krueger.
The story is intriguing and the panel art downright epic:
I've read the first issue and damn right I'm heading to Booth #1221 to pick up a physical copy of Neon Future #1 this Wonder Con weekend. If I'm lucky, I'll catch the creative team in residence and get to chat about this series for a bit.
