After a bit of a hiatus, the Comic Book Book Club is back! It feels like it's been a minute since we put together a group to go through and read a comic series. And it's been a minute since we've done a new series. Well, new year new us. We kick off the 2019 Comic Book Book Clubs with The Wicked + The Divine volumes 1 & 2 (The Faust Act & Fandemonium). The series is written by Kieron Gillen (Darth Vader, Uber, Uber Invasion, Young Avengers) with Jamie Mckelvie doing the beautiful artwork, Clayton Cowles on lettering and Matt Wilson's vivid colors. This is an absolutely gorgeous book and while the story is a bit of a slow build, Volume 2 ends with a huge cliff hanger that promises to completely change the dynamic of the book. We're looking forward to diving more into this series and would love for you to listen along as we go through this journey.

The narrative follows a young teenage girl, Laura, as she interacts with the Pantheon, a group of twelve people who discover that they are reincarnated deities. This discovery grants them fame and supernatural powers, with the stipulation that they will die within two years as part of a ninety-year cycle known as the Recurrence.
