The Turning is the Worst Movie of 2020 So Far
The Turning is such a bad film that it’s taken me 2+ weeks to get this episode out. We actually recorded this review a couple of days after the film opened and it was so bad (the movie not our review) that I’ve just been sitting on it. Based on a 1898 ghost story called The Turn of the Screw, The Turning is a perfect example of what happens when a director tries to get too fancy with a simplistic adaptation. I’ve read what Floria Sigismondi has said she was trying to do with The Turning and the ending (or lack there of) and honestly, none of it makes sense. And it makes even less sense when you watch the film. The film wastes the talents of Mackenzie Davis, Finn Wolfhard and Brooklynn Prince. But more importantly, it wasted all of our time. Time we can never get back. Maybe that’s why I didn’t release this review until now. In the hopes that maybe some other wasted their time as well so we don’t feel so alone. smh. Fuck this movie.
