Black Lightning 2x01 - The Book of Consequences: Chapter One: Rise of the Green Light Babies

Black Lightning returns with a special guest filled premiere episode. As Jennifer struggles with her ever-growing powers, Jefferson and Lynn try to regain their positions in the aftermath of the attack on the school and the reveal of the ASA's child experimentation. Anissa, always the activist, wants to help the families of the "greenlight babies" who need legal representation to fight the police brutality and the government who wants to sweep their experiments under the rug.

On this week's podcast we discuss these long titles (look there are two colons, that's just grammatically incorrect), green light babies vs. crack babies, the guest appearances of venerable Black actors like Bill Duke and Robert Townsend, and Anissa continuing to be the most extra superhero to walk the streets of Freeland.

I know there has been mention of Mike Lowry, and I get the Bad Boys reference but what about Robert Townsends character Dr. Frank Napier. The last name I recognized being used in cinema. In the high school drama..,.. Lean on Me . The connection is too close to be a coincidence, the writing staff must be having fun. I mean if you really want to go off the deep end, Robert Townsend. Robert Guillome both the liason between a black principal in trouble and a higher board. Jefferson and Joe Clark even try to black shame the liasons. I am anticipating an ‘expediently ‘. If Tobias says it, that would make it sweeter.
