Spoiler Review: Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings
Ro, Dpalm and Kriss get together to finally talk about Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Since it's now streaming on Disney+ we figured now would be a good time to jump into the biggest movie of 2021. There's a lot to like about this movie. First off, it's absolutely gorgeous. This is also the best hand-to-hand fighting we've seen in the MCU. Between Shang-Chi and Eternals, Marvel has really stepped up its game when it comes to action scenes. Not that they were slouches before. But the action sequences and fights in Shang-Chi are a different level. The action is smooth, fast paced and clear to see. Even when the movie moves into the fantastical, it never loses it's grounded feeling and everything feels natural. It helps that the story is very grounded and centered really around family and grief.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings does a lot when it comes to it's story and that's not a bad thing. First, it closes the loop on The Ten Rings organization that was first mentioned in Iron Man 1 when the MCU started. Then it also correct the Mandarin issue from Iron Man 3 (it even brings Trevor back). And finally (and most importantly), it brings Shang-Chi into the MCU and directly links him and the Ten Rings to whatever is going to be at the core of what Marvel is moving towards over the next few years. The after credit scenes clearly show that we will be seeing a lot more of this character. But even with the big things it's leading toward, it manages to give all of it's characters depth and makes them relatable.
