SJW DCEU Takeover – Ava DuVernay To Direct The New Gods for DC Films
Let the Snyder-Cut dudebro and anti-SJW bigot tears flow.
Ava DuVernay being tapped to direct The New Gods for DC films will probably lead to a lot of whining and crying from the anti-SJW crowd but the rest of us should be pretty happy. There's a lot to like with this choice from Warner Brothers. First it could be more signs of an obvious shift away from the dark, gritty and stupid Snyder-verse that has been an anchor around their neck. Justice League was an absolute mess because they clearly tried to switch up tones after the majority of filming was already done. Going forward, this could be a sign that they're trying get themselves back on track tonally and picking not only DuVernay but also a Jack Kirby project is a definite signal that they're trying to commit.
But the worry is...will the film even happen? Warner Brothers and DC Films hasn't exactly instilled confidence in their ability to go from announcing a film to actually have it go through production and release. Think about all the films they've announced over the last few years, some with directors and casts, that still don't have release dates or aren't even close to production. That's where my worry comes in at. On face value, I want to be excited that Ava DuVernay is getting another high-profile project. But history tells me not to get too excited because the film might never get released.
Only time will tell if this is Warner Brothers and DC Films finally turn the corner or not.
