This episode did a great job of revealing that Bruce actually had a childhood , it was the first time for an extended period he was happy. And not investigating his parent’s murder. Selina telling the crazy story about her mother made no sense to a girl who left innocence early in life.

I need some help regarding character’s history per the show

Jim moved to Gotham to become a detective,

I assume Barbara already lived in Gotham if she had a past relationship with Montoya where did that take place?

When and where did Jim meet Barbara and have a long enough relationship that they cohabit at ?

If Barbara grew up in Gotham how is she so naive about the corruption?

And I know Kriss mentioned the new friendship between Jim and Montoya being shattered just when they began to trust one another.

My question is how can Barbara maintain being afraid to live with Jim in Gotham but she is in the bed of another police officer? She begged to be a part of all of Jim’s life even after numerous warnings. And if she feels comfortable enough with Montoya what does that say about her?

Why wouldn’t Lila tell Fish about Penguin’s threats? It would have been nice to show that the young Penguin is cunning sometimes he missteps .
It would allow for some development.

Jim needs some other romantic interests , I know he will eventually end up with Barbara but while she gets her life together let Jim out on the prowl.

Mr. Dent, man he flipped the switch enough that Lovecraft flinched. There would be a great scene if Victor Z. and an angry Harvey Dent faced off.

      1. You summed up my issues with Barbara pretty well. As much as I don’t want to see more of her right now, we really need to information on her and her background. Part of me thinks maybe because she’s rich, she’s just been insulated from the true horrors of Gotham and maybe when she dated Montoya, Montoya kept that stuff from her. But that’s just my speculation. They need to explain what’s going one with her.

      2. as far as Liza not telling Fish…I think its because she’s just as scared of Fish as she is of Falcone finding out. Think about it, if she tells Fish that Penguin knows about her, then she’s no longer useful to Fish and I think she’s smart enough to see that. Fish would kill her in a heart beat. Truth is, right now she’s better off trusting Cobblepot than anyone else.

Your response 2 – yeah that makes sense. That is a running theme with Fish, when she finds or believes someone does not fit her pursuits she has a rather nasty way of breaking off associations. So Penguin and sniffing – is that a characteristic?

I just now understood the Lila – Lilac reference , like you and Dpalm said Fish’s major weakness is underestimating anyone who is not a crime boss.
