Comic Book Book Clubs for 2017

In 2014 we here at the MTR Network started the Comic Book Book Club. The idea was simple. Pick a series and read a few issues, then get a group of fans together to discuss it over Skype. The first few episodes were on the non-premium MTR feed and were limited to 5-6 issues of a series. Since then, not only have we moved it to the Premium Network, but we've expanded how many issues we cover. Usually we're doing 2-3 volumes of a series, encompassing 20-30 issues sometimes.
Today I released the last Comic Book Book Club we did for the series Fables. Fables was our longest running series at over 150 issues covered. The only ongoing series we have left is Saga and because of the release schedule of that series, it takes a while for us to build up enough issues to cover. So I decided to sit down and come up with a list of Comic Book Book Clubs for the first few months of 2017. This isn't an exhaustive list and I'm certain that there will be other books that get added in here throughout the year. Also, with the exception of the first series, there aren't any solid dates.
Planetary Vol 1 - 4 & Crossing Worlds crossover (Weekend of Feb 11th)
This critically acclaimed, landmark series took a look at the inter-dimensional peace-keeping force known as Planetary.
The trio on the ground includes Elijah Snow, a hundred-year-old man, Jakita Wagner, an extremely powerful woman, and The Drummer, a man with the ability to communicate with machines. Tasked with tracking down evidence of super-human activity, these mystery archaeologists uncover unknown paranormal secrets and histories, such as a World War II supercomputer that can access other universes, a ghostly spirit of vengeance, and a lost island of dying monsters.
Cinderella From Fabletown with Love & Fables are Forever
There are a lot of spinoff series from Fables. Not all get great reviews but one that does is the one on Cinderella. She was one of the characters that we covered in the main Fables books that we wanted to get more of and now here is our chance.
When supernatural artifacts from the Homelands begin surfacing in the modern world, it falls to Cinderella, Fabletown's best kept (and best dressed) secret agent to stop the illegal trafficking. But can Cindy foil the dark plot before Fabletown and its hidden, exiled inhabitants are exposed once and for all? And how does her long lost Fairy Godmother factor into the equation?
Whether she's soaring through clouds, deep-sea diving, or cracking jaws, Cindy travels from Manhattan to Dubai and hooks up with a handsome, familiar accomplice who may be harboring secret motives of his own. Meanwhile, trouble brews back home in Fabletown when Cindy's overworked, underappreciated assistant decides to seize control of The Glass Slipper, Cindy's exclusive shoe boutique.
Hellboy Vol 1 - 3
Hellboy is one of the most celebrated comics series in recent years. The ultimate artists' artist and a great storyteller whose work is in turns haunting, hilarious, and spellbinding, Mike Mignola has won numerous awards in the comics industry and beyond. When strangeness threatens to engulf the world, a strange man will come to save it. Sent to investigate a mystery with supernatural overtones, Hellboy discovers the secrets of his own origins, and his link to the Nazi occultists who promised Hitler a final solution in the form of a demonic avatar.
Saga 37 - 42
Not much to say about this. We might go back and revisit volumes 1 - 6 as well.
All New X-Men Vol 1 - 5 + Battle of the Attom
In the wake of the events of Avengers Vs. X-Men, the mutant world is set to receive a big blast from the past, in the form of the original X-Men! How will the young, unsuspecting mutants from the past including Jean Grey react to the conflict and turmoil that has engulfed the world of their future?
Darth Vader Series
The story centers on the character Darth Vader between the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope and Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back
The first 23 issues of this series are on Marvel Unlimited so if you're a MU subscriber you should be able to get them there.
Magneto 1-21
Magneto's first own ongoing series. Magneto returns to his role as protector of Mutant-kind after he left the X-Men. Magneto gatheres a group of like-minded in his war against people whom commit mutant-related crimes.
This entire series is on Marvel Unlimited (Look for the series that is 2014-Present).
Vision 1 - 12
The Vision wants to be human, and what's more human than family? He goes to the laboratory where he was created, where Ultron molded him into a weapon, where he first rebelled against his given destiny, where he first imagined that he could be more, that he could be good, that he could be a man, a normal, ordinary man. And he builds them. A wife, Virginia. Two teenage twins, Viv and Vin. They look like him. They have his powers. They share his grandest ambition or perhaps obsession: the unrelenting need to be ordinary. Behold The Visions! They're the family next door, and they have the power to kill us all. What could possibly go wrong?
The first 9 issues of this series are on Marvel Unlimited.
Watchmen
With DC Rebirth bringing Watchmen back into the light, we're going to go back and revisit this series
Red Robin Vol 1 - 5
Tim Drake is one of the most underrated Robins. Dpalm & I did a great Character Corner on him and one of the books that was part of our research was this Red Robin Run
With Bruce Wayne’s apparent death, Tim Drake takes on the costumed identity of Red Robin. He is determined to find Bruce Wayne, who Tim is convinced is alive.
The Omega Men Vol 3
This series was recommended to me because we've been talking about Tom King lately. I already have 2 other Tom King series on here so I figured why not a third?
Broadcast across the universe, the Omega Men reveal a beaten and restrained Kyle Rayner. They make their intentions clear as they kill the former White Lantern. Now the universe is on watch and the hunt for the Omega Men begins. The line between good and evil is blurred in this part of the galaxy, and you do not know who to trust. Please Omega.
Grayson Vol 1 - 5
Following his public reveal as Nightwing at the hands of the Crime Syndicate during Forever Evil, Dick Grayson fakes his death and becomes an agent of the espionage agency Spyral as an inside man for Batman.
